Two teens accused of spray painting the letters KKK on a bus owned by a predominantly black church will be charged with hate crimes, Anne Arundel County Police said today.

The teens were arrested Wednesday for the Sept. 10 vandalism of a bus parked at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, police said. A witness saw two white teens run from the bus that morning, and investigators used absentee records from a local school to locate them, according to police.

The two were released into their parents’ custody after being charged with misdemeanor property destruction via juvenile citation. Police said they will also be charged with hate crimes.
